LSC Police Chiefs Desk Reference on CD-ROM: A Guide for Newly Appointed Police Leaders (IACP)

This reference is a major component of the New Police Chief Mentoring Project funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. Designed with the newer chief in mind, the Police Chiefs Desk Reference (PCDR) contains a wealth of resources to assist chiefs in their role as a police executive. The PCDR also helps executives connect to their state associations though state specific chapters.

The contents have been arranged in a logical progression of topics that will help newer chiefs prioritize areas of concern and easily access resources. For instance, if you have questions about strategic planning, you can read a Best Practices Guide on that topic in the Leadership and Management chapter. Similarly, if you would like to know more about budgeting or creating a policy and procedure manual, review the Operations chapter.
